Osek patur, this document carries no VAT
A digitally signed receipt with a running number, from a computer or a phone, in half a minute. No credit card, no subscription and no monthly receipt cap.
Fill in the details and choose how the customer paid. The list marks every required field still missing, and the receipt builds as you type, in the same layout as a receipt issued from Slate. Nothing is sent or saved.

Osek patur, this document carries no VAT
Business name, dealer number, and a logo if you have one. The dealer type decides which documents appear in the menu, and for an osek patur the tax invoice simply is not there.
Name and contact details. A business customer will want their own registration number on the receipt so it goes into their books without questions.
Each payment method has its own fields: cheque number and bank, the last four card digits, the app name and its reference. A payment that came in two ways goes on two rows of the same receipt.
It takes the next number in the receipt series, which runs separately from the proforma invoice series. From that moment the receipt is locked for editing.
The receipt goes out by email from the same screen. Every document carries a QR code that leads to a verification page, and the link can be copied into any channel.
Every time money comes in, dated the day it came in. Not when the work was delivered, not when the proforma invoice went out, and not at month end to close everything at once. A 30% deposit before the work starts gets a receipt the day it arrives, and the balance gets its own receipt when it arrives.
A customer who pays in three instalments gets three receipts, each for the amount that came in that day. All of them point to the same proforma invoice, which shows how much of it has been paid.
The heading "Receipt" and a serial number from the receipt series. The business name and dealer number. The payer's name, and for a business customer their registration number too. The date the payment arrived, the amount, and the payment details. When the payment belongs to a specific proforma invoice, it is worth naming that as well.
What an osek patur receipt does not have is a VAT line, a VAT rate, or a split between a pre-VAT amount and a total. A template copied from an osek murshe that still has a "VAT 0%" row is the usual reason customers ask where the tax invoice is.
The receipt in the checker above follows the layout of a receipt issued from Slate: business details at the top, the heading and number, a "To" block with the customer, a payments table, and a total. A real document adds the digital signature seal and a QR code for verification at the bottom.
The sample receipt on the examples page shows the full document as a PDF. That sample belongs to an osek murshe, and for an osek patur the difference is one line: "osek patur" next to the dealer number instead of "osek murshe". The rest is identical.
This is the field where most receipts fail. "Payment received" with no details leaves no way to match the receipt to the bank movement, and in an audit a row like that looks like an entry with no supporting record.
| Payment method | What the receipt records |
|---|---|
| Bank transfer | The bank the transfer came from and the transfer date. An account number and reference help when matching against the bank statement. |
| Bit, PayBox or another payment app | The app name and the reference number it shows after payment. Without the reference there is no way to tie the receipt to the bank movement. |
| Cash | The amount only. Cash is the one method with no identifying details, so the receipt is its only record. |
| Cheque | Cheque number, bank, branch and due date. A post-dated cheque gets its receipt on the day it was received, with the due date written on it. |
| Credit card | Card type and the last four digits. A full card number never goes on a receipt and is never stored. |
Card payments add a twist of their own: the clearing company takes a fee, so the amount reaching the bank is smaller than what the customer paid. The receipt is issued for the full amount. Details in the credit card clearing guide.
A tax invoice receipt is a tax invoice and a receipt in one document, and the tax invoice is what lets the customer deduct VAT. An osek patur does not charge VAT, so there is no VAT to deduct, and the document is off limits. A proforma invoice and a receipt are issued instead. The full comparison is in the tax invoice, proforma invoice and receipt guide.
A customer who pays on the spot, at the end of a private lesson or when collecting an order, gets both documents together. The proforma invoice records what was sold, and the receipt records that the money arrived. Each takes a number from its own series, and in the books they are two separate entries.
On longer jobs the order flips: the proforma invoice goes out as a payment request, and the receipt waits for the day the money arrives. What goes on each is set out in the osek patur invoice guide.
This happens mostly with companies whose bookkeepers expect a tax invoice from everyone. The answer: the proforma invoice and receipt they received are full support for an income tax expense. They go into the books and reduce taxable income. The one thing they cannot do is deduct VAT, because no VAT was charged.
A customer who insists on a tax invoice is really asking you to be an osek murshe. When most customers are businesses, that is a real consideration, covered in the guide to switching to osek murshe.
An allocation number is required on tax invoices and tax invoice receipts above the threshold, and an osek patur issues neither. So an osek patur receipt needs no allocation number, even at 40,000 ILS, and there is no need to connect to the Tax Authority's Israel Invoice system.
A printed receipt book is still allowed: a pre-printed running number, and a copy that stays in the book after the original goes to the customer. The downside is practical. It has to be carried, a photo of a receipt is not a document, and a lost book is a year of records gone.
A computerized receipt works differently. The system assigns the number, the digital signature locks on issue, and the document cannot be edited or deleted afterwards. A Word or Excel template does none of that, so it is not a computerized receipt. Details in the digital signature guide.
Before the first computerized receipt goes to a customer, two things are needed: the customer's consent to receive computerized documents, and a registered letter to the assessing officer saying the business is moving to computerized documents. Both are done once.
From then on the receipt can go out by email straight from the system. Every receipt from Slate carries a QR code and a link to a verification page, where the customer sees that the signature is valid and downloads the PDF without signing up. That link can be pasted into WhatsApp too.
Slate opens in the phone browser and can be added to the home screen. From then on it launches full screen like an app, with no app store download. A private tutor, a fitness coach or a technician paid at the end of a visit issues the receipt on the spot, before the customer closes the door.
Companies and public bodies sometimes withhold tax at source and transfer less than they owe. The receipt records the full amount, states how much was withheld, and shows what actually arrived. The checker above shows how that looks.
The withholding certificate the customer sends is kept separately. In the annual report it is what offsets the withheld amount against your tax, and without it that money simply does not count.
An issued receipt is not edited or deleted. A wrong amount, the wrong customer, or a bounced cheque is handled by cancelling the receipt and issuing a new one. Both stay in the series, so there is no gap in the numbering.
Cancelling a receipt is not a credit invoice. A credit invoice reverses a sale, and cancelling a receipt reverses the record of a payment.
Seven years from the end of the tax year, in a form that can be presented. That covers copies of the receipts you issued and the receipts you received for expenses. A computerized receipt stays in the system and remains available after the customer has lost the email. Details in the document retention guide.
The ceiling for 2026 is 122,833 ILS of annual turnover, before expenses. The receipts you issue in a year add up to roughly that turnover, so a system that totals them shows when you are getting close. The osek patur ceiling calculator shows how much room is left.
On the day of the switch to osek murshe, receipts already issued stay as they are and the series does not reset. Tax invoices and tax invoice receipts are added, with VAT on every sale from that day.
In Slate an osek patur issues receipts and proforma invoices with no payment, no subscription and no monthly document cap. Signup needs no credit card. Every receipt is digitally signed, numbered from its own series and stored in the system.
The free account also covers multiple businesses, documents in English and foreign currency, a payments report by method, and a unified-format export for your accountant. Anyone coming from another system imports their history from a file, and every document type can be viewed before signing up.
Yes. In Slate issuing is free with no document limit and no credit card at signup. Each receipt is digitally signed and numbered the same way it would be in a paid system.
Yes. Every payment gets a receipt dated the day the money arrived, small amounts and cash included. A payment that comes in parts gets a receipt for each part.
Yes, as long as it comes from a system that signs it digitally and locks the numbering. A Word file or a PDF edited by hand is not a computerized receipt, even if it looks like one.
A proforma invoice records the sale and asks for payment. A receipt records the money that came in. When the customer pays on the spot, both are issued together, each in its own series.
Choose payment app as the method and write the app name and the reference number from the payment confirmation. The date is the day the money arrived.
Slate opens in the phone browser and can be added to the home screen. It then launches full screen like an app, with no app store download.
Not as a computerized receipt. A file like that cannot lock numbering, sign digitally, or prevent edits after issuing. Anyone who wants paper uses a printed receipt book.
Slate has no subscription and no per-document fee. Issuing is free and there is no monthly cap on receipts.
It is not deleted or edited. The wrong receipt is cancelled and a new, correct one is issued. Both stay in the series, which is what shows an auditor the correction was done properly.
No, at any amount. Allocation numbers apply only to tax invoices and tax invoice receipts, and an osek patur issues neither.
Yes. Every payment gets a receipt, including one in dollars or euros. In Slate it can be issued in English and in a foreign currency, and the shekel amount is kept for reporting.
Receipts already issued stay as they are and the series does not reset. From the day of the switch, tax invoices and tax invoice receipts are added, along with VAT reporting.
